Dr. Newlon received her BS from the University of Memphis where she was a team captain, 4-year starter, and a Division I Academic All-American while playing for the Lady Tiger basketball team. She received her MD from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Upon graduation as the valedictorian of her class in medical school, Dr. Newlon received her promotion to Captain in the United States Army and completed her dermatology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. In 2010, she was deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan, where she served as the lone dermatologist. Dr. Newlon resigned from military service with the rank of Major and returned to her hometown of McComb in July 2013. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and her greatest interest is medical dermatology.

Dr. Newlon has enjoyed being back in her hometown where she has served her community in various civic organizations and through her church. She loves attending sports events, traveling, and spending time with her family.
