MBS, Medical Doctorate
Dr. Erik Soine is a board certified dermatologist with a strong commitment to helping others with top notch health care.
Dr. Erik Soine understands that dermatological issues are more than just skin deep. They can often have a profound effect on a person’s self-esteem, as well as their physical well-being. Dr. Soine is committed to spending the time to get to know each patient and their skin care challenges, developing a specialized plan to meet their unique needs.
As a board certified dermatologist by the American Board of Dermatology with training in both dermatology and internal medicine, you can trust Dr. Soine to personally provide the most state-of-the-art, clinically sound treatment… whether it’s a medical condition or cosmetic procedure.
Dr. Soine graduated Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana State University with a BS in Biological Science. He continued on at LSU, earning his medical doctorate, then completing his residency in both dermatology and internal medicine. Raised in Mandeville, Dr. Soine has deep roots in the North Shore community and understands the needs and concerns of its residents.
A commitment to his faith combined with a deep concern for global and local issues has led Dr. Soine to a number of volunteer efforts including: an internship in Sierra Leone helping assess the state of health care in the developing African nation; a medical and dental mission to Granada, Nicaragua through the Archdiocese of New Orleans; and helping run a temporary hospital following Hurricane Katrina.
Throughout his career, Dr. Soine has focused on passing on his knowledge to future and current physicians. He has taught basic examination skills to medical students as well as lead discussions with 1st-year medical students on topics such as medical ethics. He is committed to academics and serves as gratis faculty in the department of dermatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and serves as part-time LSU faculty at the Department of Veteran Affairs in New Orleans. He feels equally as passionate about educating his patients as well as upcoming medical professionals.
It’s this commitment to helping others that make Dr. Soine an attentive, compassionate provider who constantly strives to deliver the best possible care.
When not caring for his patients, Dr. Soine enjoys spending time with wife Rebecca, a fellow dermatologist, and their three children. Dr. Soine was also part of the LSU Fighting Tigers Marching Band, playing the tenor saxophone.
I believe that everyone’s health and skin is unique. The health of our skin, especially for those with skin conditions, requires the focused attention of both the dermatologist and the patient. Creating a patient-doctor team allows me to develop a thorough understanding of the needs of each patient’s skin. Skin disease can often affect us not only physically, but also emotionally. I am grateful for the opportunity to help treat patients, and hopefully ease the physical and emotional burden of their skin conditions.
I earned my medical degree, and also completed my residency in dermatology, at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La.
I provide medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology; laser treatments and phototherapy. My areas of interest include sun health, sun precautions and preventing skin cancer. I specialize in the treatment of precancerous and cancerous skin lesions, acne, psoriasis, childhood and adult atopic dermatitis/eczema, moles and birthmarks and skin cancers.
I love to teach patients about sun health, sun precautions, and preventing skin cancer. I also enjoy working with patients of all ages to create unique skin care routines, treatments, and cosmetic procedures to make each patient’s skin the best it can be. As a former college gymnast, I love athletics and enjoy many sports. I also enjoy running, reading and spending time with friends and family.
